The Department of Truth has three distinct collected-edition lines. Numbered trade paperbacks arrange the monthly series into reading units; Complete Conspiracy hardcovers gather much larger blocks; and Wild Fictions combines illustrated field reports with the previously published Bigfoot story arc and additional material. It is a companion collection, not a numbered trade.
The publisher’s stated contents are the controlling record. Volume 3 demonstrates why a volume number cannot be converted into an issue range by assumption: it collects issues #6–#7 and #14–#17, while the uninterrupted #8–#13 sequence belongs to Volume 2.
Release dates, ISBNs, page counts, and prices identify editions, not canon. The same story can appear in several formats without becoming a separate event in continuity.
Image Comics supplies the dates, ISBNs, page counts, product codes, and stated contents for each edition.
Collected editions reorganize published material for reading; they do not create a separate chronology unless they contain explicitly new material.
Unlisted extras, territorial editions, and retailer bundles are not inferred from a title or aftermarket listing.

Quick edition comparison
Use the source-linked table and comparison tool below to check publisher-stated grouping. They do not turn publication order into story chronology or claim that matching issue coverage means matching bonus material.
Compare what you own
Select the collections already on your shelf and an edition to check. The comparison only uses publisher-listed numbered issues and explicitly named shared material.
Which collection contains this issue?
Lookup is plot-free and follows Image Comics’ listed contents. Trade numbering is not a straight issue sequence: issues #6–#7 are in Volume 3, while Volume 2 starts at #8. Issue #0 is in Volume 7.
Collections listing issue #6
- Trade Volume 3: Free Country — Publisher publication record
- Complete Conspiracy Deluxe Book 1 — Publisher publication record
These are alternatives containing the same numbered issue; you do not need both to read that issue. Listed overlap does not mean identical bonus material or format.
Wild Fictions is not included in the numbered lookup because its linked publisher listing does not enumerate a complete issue inventory. Its omission does not mean an issue is absent from that hardcover. Forthcoming issues #39 and #40 have no confirmed collection mapping here.

Complete Conspiracy deluxe hardcovers
Complete Conspiracy Deluxe Book 1 was published May 3, 2023. The 520-page hardcover collects #1–#17 and carries ISBN 9781534399723.
Complete Conspiracy Deluxe Book 2 was published June 17, 2026. The 544-page hardcover collects #18–#33 and “Suspicious Minds,” ISBN 9781534332560. Because the backup began in issue #0 and continued in #34–#35, the publisher’s wording is more precise than assuming the deluxe contains only its numbered range.
Wild Fictions
The Department of Truth: Wild Fictions hardcover was published September 25, 2024. It runs 208 pages and carries ISBN 9781534388536. Image’s release listing identifies the illustrated Wild Fictions entries and additional material; its March 29, 2024 announcement also explicitly confirms the Bigfoot story arc from the original series. This makes the hardcover a mixture of companion material and previously published story material, not a wholly new installment.
The book is not a replacement for Volume 3 or a hidden eighth trade. Its organizing principle is the Department field guide: manifestations and folklore records presented by a wide group of artists.
Which collections overlap what I own?
Volumes 1, 2, and 3 together contain the numbered issues #1–#17 also listed for Deluxe Book 1. Volume 3 collects #6–#7 and #14–#17; it should not be treated as the next continuous block after Volume 2. Matching issue coverage does not establish identical bonus pages, trim size, or design.
Volumes 4, 5, and 6 cover the numbered issues #18–#33 in Deluxe Book 2. Image also names “Suspicious Minds” in Book 2. Volume 7 collects #0 and #34–#38, including that backup story. The shared backup does not establish that Deluxe Book 2 contains the full contents of #0, #34, or #35, or that it replaces Volume 7.
Wild Fictions is not a replacement for the numbered trades. Image confirms the Bigfoot story arc as well as illustrated case files and additional material, so some story material overlaps the original series. The linked publisher records do not enumerate a complete issue-by-issue inventory for the hardcover. Do not infer an exact overlap percentage or call the complete book new material.
Overlap and reading decisions
A reader using trades receives the monthly narrative through Volume 7, while the two deluxe books currently overlap Volumes 1–6 and add the publisher’s stated “Suspicious Minds” material to Book 2. Wild Fictions can be read as a companion after its concepts have been introduced.
Cover art, trim size, paper, bonus pages, and design can differ between formats. Those material differences belong to collecting history; plot summaries should still cite the story’s original issue or clearly name the collected source used.
